Acknowledgment of Risks

I understand that participation in the Neighborhood Backyard Ultra ("Event") is voluntary and involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Running on public streets, sidewalks, trails, and other surfaces
• Slips, trips, falls, and collisions with other participants, pedestrians, vehicles, or objects
• Uneven pavement, curbs, potholes, gravel, mud, or other hazards
• Weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, lightning, or darkness
• Dehydration, overexertion, heat illness, hypothermia, muscle strains, fractures, cardiac events, or other serious injuries
• Delayed access to emergency medical care

I understand that these risks may result in serious injury, permanent disability, or death.

I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks.

Physical Condition

I certify that:

• I am physically capable of participating in this Event.
• I have no medical condition that would make participation unsafe, or I have consulted with my physician regarding my participation.
• I understand it is my responsibility to monitor my own physical condition throughout the Event.
• I will immediately stop participating if I believe continuing would be unsafe.

Public Roads and Traffic

I understand that portions of this Event may occur on public roads, sidewalks, and neighborhood streets that remain open to vehicle traffic.

I agree to:

• Obey all traffic laws.
• Yield to vehicles when required.
• Use sidewalks where available.
• Exercise caution at all intersections and crossings.
• Follow all instructions given by Event organizers and volunteers.

I understand that I am responsible for my own safety while traveling the course.

Event Rules

I agree to:

• Follow all Event rules and instructions.
• Conduct myself respectfully toward volunteers, neighbors, spectators, and fellow participants.
• Wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
• Notify Event staff immediately if I withdraw from the Event.

The Event organizers reserve the right to remove any participant whose conduct creates an unreasonable safety risk.

Release of Liability

In consideration for being permitted to participate, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue:

• Event organizers
• Volunteers
• Sponsors
• Property owners who have granted permission for Event activities
• Their respective officers, employees, agents, and representatives

from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, or liabilities arising out of or related to my participation in the Event, including those arising from ordinary negligence, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

This release does not apply to gross negligence, reckless conduct, or intentional misconduct where such claims cannot legally be waived.

Medical Treatment

If I become injured or ill during the Event, I authorize Event organizers to obtain emergency medical treatment on my behalf if they believe it is necessary. I understand that I am solely responsible for any costs associated with medical treatment, transportation, or emergency services.

Photography and Media

I grant permission for Event organizers to photograph, video record, or otherwise capture my participation in the Event. I grant the organizers the right to use these images or recordings for promotional, marketing, social media, and future Event purposes without compensation.

Cancellation

I understand that the Event may be delayed, modified, shortened, or canceled due to weather, emergencies, unsafe conditions, or other circumstances at the sole discretion of the organizers.

No guarantee is made regarding completion of the Event.
